Guyver-
Tidy Trax
Sat 24th July , Club Euphoria, Camborne
By James Martin
At
only 19, Guy Mearns is one of the hottest
DJ’s and producers within the UK
hard trance scene having had five releases
on Tidy Two already, the first at the
age of 17 under the Riot Brothers name
with his brother Gavin. He is also responsible
for engineering some of Tidy's biggest
releases outside of his own including
Lee Haslam's 'Music Is The Drug' and
many of Lee's remixes for Dumonde and
Lost Tribe. Guy also mixed the double
compilation CD Resonate 3(top CD!). Recently
Guy and Lee have collaborated as Euphony
and remixed ‘Carte Blanche’ which
is featured on Lee’s most recent
double compilation CD ‘Resonate
4’(top CD!). Remix work has also
been flooding in for the the young man
over recent months with his name appearing
on tracks from Rob Tissera, Steve Hill,
Fallout Boy, Ian Van Dahl & the late
and great Tony De Vit. Most recently
he had the honour of co-writing and remixing
the new JX single called “Restless” which
reached the UK's National Top 20 in February
2004.
This was Guyvers first appearance at
Euphoria, and a great one at that!
The doors opened at 10pm to the public
who were welcomed to the sounds of Ashley
Taylor who played a superb 45 minute
set that consisted of nothing but great
uplifting trance.
At 10.45pm James Martin took to the
wheels of steel for 45 minutes stepping
up a notch and delivering some fantastic
slightly harder uplifting trance during
Guyvers arrival to Euphoria which brought
the evening to 11.30pm. With Guy now
present and the dance floor filling up,
good old Simon Williams lashed out the
last 30 minutes in style preparing the
club for Guyver’s two hour set!
A great 2 hours of Hard Trance were
delivered by Guy, this included lots
of his own material such as ‘Serious
Sound’, ‘Man on the Moon’, ‘Trapped’ and ‘Differences’.
Guy also played collaboration singles
such as ‘Flashback’- Riot
Brothers(Guy and his bro Gavin) and ‘Carte
Blanche’- Euphony(Guy and Lee Haslam).
It was a great night had by all according
to the positive feedback we received
off of many clubbers who attended and
the dance floor status all night long!
Guyver really enjoyed his set at Euphoria
and is looking forward to playing again
in the future.
